Are Luri and Laki Languages?
Abstract:
Some claim that Luri and Laki are dialects of the Kurdish language, or that Luri is a dialect of the Persian language. This assertion cannot be considered correct, because from the specific perspective of language definition, Luri and Laki have different phonetic, semantic, and grammatical rules compared to Kurdish and Persian. The mere sharing of vocabulary does not make them dialects of a single language. Indeed, Persian, Luri, Kurdish, and Laki are all dialects of Old Persian, or a language older than Persian, the Indo-European language.
